Dear CSD Parents and Guardians, Early this morning several CSD employees received an email stating that there was a potential threat to schools. We involved our tech department and law enforcement to help us understand the legitimacy of the threat. We have since learned that the message was sent statewide and to districts in other states. At this point, the message is considered a hoax by law enforcement. We will share any updates pertinent to Carbon School District students. CSD Parents, As our winter weather approaches, we would like to communicate our district's plan to safely transport students during heavy snowfall. COMMUNICATION WILL BE PROVIDED ANY TIME THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE NORMAL SCHOOL DAY. The following plan will be implemented when we experience heavy snowfall such that we cannot safely transport students to school as normally scheduled. 1. Carbon School District does not intend to cancel school for snow. We will use a "Late Start" schedule through the winter months. All district schedules will be adjusted by two (2) hours. For instance, if your child boards the bus at 7:00 on a normal day, they would board at 9:00 on a "Late Start" day. If school starts at 8:10 on a normal day, it will start at 10:10 on a "Late Start" day. The schools will ALWAYS end at the normal time. 2. In most cases, decisions cannot be made until the morning of the heavy snowfall. If an adjustment to the regular schedule is necessary, parents will be notified by 6:00 a.m. using our parent notification system. In addition, messages will be posted on all school and district websites and social media. 3. All Carbon School District preschool programs will be canceled on "Late Start" days. Carbon School District is seeking applications for an Assistant Football Coach at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. The Assistant Football Coach assists the Head Football Coach in promoting an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Football Coach assists in providing leadership and supervision for team and individual sports, and works closely with the other staff and administration. Assist in the coordination and supervision of the Football program and team.  Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  Assist in the design of a training program and game program.  Assist in the organization and supervision of the coaching staff to assure that the program is properly implemented.  Ensure that all athletic activities conform to UHSAA guidelines. Just a reminder that Carbon High School will be dismissing students early tomorrow (Friday at 2:20PM) in preparation for the Dave Smith Wrestling Tournament. Busses, however, will still run at the same times. Students riding busses may wait in the school commons areas or arrange for other means of transportation home. Attention Parents: The fire alarm went off at the high school about 20 minutes ago. The school was evacuated as we have regularly prepared. Fire personnel responded to the scene, cleared the situation and determined it was safe to return into the building. We have extended lunch until 1:00pm. Students are to report to class by 1:04pm. The day will resume as normal.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for an Advisory/Assistant ISI paraprofessional at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. This position will use various computer programs and work with the counseling department to schedule students into interventions. Will also assist in the supervision of the in school suspension room.  This position will be 29 hours a week.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.   Must also be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening.  Beginning pay is $14.92 per hour. CHS parents we have received questions regarding when the 1st quarter honor roll will be posted. We had a great first quarter where 65% of our students made the honor roll. However, we are not able to post names publicly unless parents have given permission in the the registration materials. We have not had very many parents complete the registration materials, this prevents us from being able to release names for things like the honor roll. If you haven't already completed the returning student registration this school year please get on and complete it. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Full Care SPED Aide at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. Special Education Aide will work one on one with students who have special needs. CHS CAREER DAY IS TOMORROW (11/21/2023)! Students will arrive at school at the regular time (8:10am), however they will report to their Advisory class, NOT their 1st period class. If a student does not have an Advisory class, they are to go to the library to receive their schedules for the day.

On Wednesday, November 29th during advisory, representatives from the USU-E Nursing program will be at Carbon High to talk to students about their CNA program. Students that want to take this class next semester can even come and work on their applications at this time. For 9th and 10th grade students, this would be a great opportunity to get information and plan for future semesters. Students interested in attending this advisory should sign up in the CHS counseling office.

On December 1st at 4:00pm in room 187 of the Reeve's building (USU Eastern campus), the welding department will be holding a meeting to talk about the opportunities that are there for high school students. Applications for the 2nd semester WELD 1010 class will be handed out at the meeting. Parents are welcome, but are not required to attend.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Substitute Bus Aide. This is a sub position and will be scheduled when route aides need time off.  Will perform a variety of tasks to help support the driver in providing safe and proper transportation of all students to and from school. Must know the proper use of securing devices for safety restraints, wheelchairs and seat belt; will assist the driver in the proper loading and unloading of passengers; maintain student discipline; supervise and assist students in transit; report any concerns regarding students to the driver and to the appropriate building staff.; know the school bus evacuation procedures and be physically capable to evacuate students in an emergency; learn the bus route and provide route information that includes driver directions for the best way to reach a location for a substitute or newly assigned bus driver, occupy a seat that provides the best opportunity for student supervision while the bus is in motion.  Can work up to 20 hours per week. Girls Wrestling starts today (Monday, November 6) at 3:30PM in the Wrestling room . Please come join Coach Parker and the rest of the team. No experience necessary. Seniors, A representative from the Forest Service will be here Monday at 9:30 to cover summer job opportunities. He will be in room A8 and will have a table set up in the commons. (This is a different entity from the BLM that was here today.) Kevin, our representative from USU E, will be here Tuesday (11/7) to go over what is next after being accepted. He will be here at 10:30 in room A8. If you have been accepted to USU E and are wanting to know what to do next, please attend. There will also be an open house on the USU E campus Tuesday night (11/7) at 5pm.
