Students, we have a great opportunity on Thursday, March 20th during advisory, to have the GEAR UP director come talk to students at Carbon High. GEAR UP is a program run through USU Eastern that is intended to help students with academic success and work toward post high school goals. The program provides opportunities such as college visits and career exploration opportunities. They also work on ACT preparation, personal education plans, and guidance on navigating financial aid. They will be talking about the classes they are offering next year and explain what will be needed to take one of them. Applications for those classes will also be made available at that time. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Language Arts/Debate Teacher at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. Must have a Master's degree from an accredited university, those with a Bachelor's degree may be considered and a valid Secondary Utah Teaching license, or the willingness to complete the requirements to earn a professional license. A High School Language Arts Teacher is an educator who instructs students in grades 9-12 on various aspects of English language, including reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening, with a focus on developing critical thinking and analytical abilities appropriate for the middle school level. The ASVAB Career Exploration exam will be offered at 10:00 am on Thursday March 6th for students in 10-12th grade. If your student would like to participate they can sign up in the counseling office. The ASVAB measures abilities and helps predict success in the military. It is also a career exploration exam for students. There is no military obligation associated with this exam.
