There was a minor medical issue on a bus at Carbon High this morning. Authorities were called as a precaution. All students are safe and school has been in session as normal.

Parents: We just received word from the bus garage that the underpass in Helper will be closed starting at 7:00 a.m. this morning. This means the bus cannot pick up children east of the tracks. Anyone who lives east of the tracks will need to catch the bus at the Central Commission or the Catholic Church on Main Street in Helper this morning.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Chromebook Support Technician in the District Technology Center. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. All Carbon School District High School students are issued a Chromebook device for use at school and to take home. This part time position as a Chromebook Support Technician will provide primary support for the students using these Chromebooks. Works under the general supervision of the District Technology Coordinator. Provide before school support to students that have problems with their school issued electronic device. Issue and track loaner devices for students that have a device on repair or do not have a device available for school use. Perform basic repairs such as replacing broken screens, keyboards, and troubleshooting battery charging issues. Help students with password and or login problems with their electronic device. Assist in the delivery and collection of student devices throughout the school year. Assist with inventory tracking of student issued electronic devices. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of common chrome book programs (Apps) with ability to learn specialty programs used by District and/or schools. Ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve technical problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and move about the work area; use hands to handle objects, fingers to feel objects, use tools, or controls; and speak or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception to handle and repair very small chrome book parts. The Intensive Intervention Aide delivers educational interventions designed by Special Education teachers to help students meet educational, academic, life skills, behavioral, physical, social and emotional goals. Due to the varied and individual needs of each student, the Special Education Aide may provide a variety of support and assistance, and should be flexible adjusting to student needs. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Counseling/Mental Health Counselor (Middle School ) to work at various locations within the district. Must be able to give prevention instruction to students, be able to conduct formal and informal investigations to determine the root cause of a behavior issue, provide behavior supports and help with Student Behavior plans. Must be able to conduct social skills and other small group instruction and have the ability to facilitate communication that will foster understanding between parents, students and educators. Must be well versed in working in crisis situations and have the ability to provide students with individual mental health therapy when needed. Must have a Masters degree. Candidates must have a LCSW This position is split between Helper Middle School, Sally Mauro Elementary, and Castle Heights Elementary schools.
