Carbon School District is seeking applications for a School Counselor at Mont Harmon Middle School in Price, Utah. Plays the role of academic advisor to students. If students are not meeting course requirements or are having disciplinary problems, counselors may intervene to remedy the situation. The first priority of the counselor is to ensure that students perform their best academically. Counselors in secondary education are tasked with helping adolescents navigate the unique educational, social and behavioral obstacles related to attending school. This may include issues such as staying in school and avoiding substance abuse. They must also act as social workers, seeking to identify home-based problems that may negatively impact the academic and social development of students. A school counselor is expected to be very knowledgeable of career preparation in order to provide advice to students regarding education and employment options after high school. Common duties include supplying school-to-career guidance, interpreting standardized test scores, developing guidance curriculum, providing student resources, counseling individual students, coordinating with social service agencies, maintaining records, facilitating conferences and orientating new students. They may work with students one-on-one, in a private setting with teachers and parents, or with peers in a group assembly or discussion forum. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Full Time Custodian at Helper Middle School in Helper, Utah. The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. Will work under the direction of the school principal. The Head Custodian has supervisory responsibility over the other custodians including seasonal custodial employees. Safety, cleanliness and continued efficiency of operation shall be a major goal at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach about the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. On behalf of Carbon School District, local law enforcement, Castleview Hospital, dispatch, EMS, and fire departments, we want to notify the parents of Sally Mauro Elementary and Helper Middle School of an active shooter DRILL. The DRILL will be conducted after school today, April 24 at Sally Mauro Elementary. We have coordinated the DRILL to include full-scale emergency response including law enforcement, rescue, fire, ambulance, and two medical helicopters that will land on the school grounds. You will see signage and physical blocking of streets near Sally Mauro Elementary during the DRILL from approximately 2:30 pm until approximately 4:00 pm. School will not be in regular session during the DRILL. Please do NOT attempt to approach the school during the DRILL. The DRILL is part of our annual training for emergency response and school safety. We appreciate the staff and students that are assisting. All student participants have volunteered and their parents have provided approval.

Provide basic, ongoing, first-level technical support to teachers, staff, and students in the use of technology Assist other technology personnel with technology projects as necessary.  This position reports to the District Technology Coordinator. This is a full time, 40 hours per week position with benefits. ESSENTIAL TASKS Provide basic remote and on-site ongoing first-line technical support to school staff and students to address day-to-day technology concerns and issues. Troubleshoot and repair computer and peripheral equipment problems/issues. Assist in maintenance, and installation/configuration of desktop computers, printers, interactive displays, Chromebooks, Chromebook carts and charging systems, VOIP phones, and other associated IT equipment for teachers, students, and staff. Support end-users with the use of technology devices. Support for basic network access issues, help with accounts and passwords, etc. Servicing and replacing parts when necessary. Upgrade/update software as needed. Inspect, maintain, and repair/replace as necessary network cabling, voice/data jacks and other network related equipment. Perform other technology related duties as assigned.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  (Required) High school education and graduation diploma. (Required) Experience providing technical support on a variety of hardware, software and operating systems.  (Preferred) Experience managing Google Workspace and Microsoft Active Directory. (Preferred) College diploma from an accredited college or university in the field of computer science or information technology, or comparable experience. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Color Guard Advisor/Coach at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. The Color Guard instructor coordinates the preparations, exercises, and activities of the school marching band’s auxiliary unit, the Color Guard. The instructor prepares and directs the unit for independent performance and competition, as well as for performances integrated within the larger marching band. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Middle School Science Teacher at Mont Harmon Middle School in Price, Utah. Required to teach students on a specific scientific subject.  Will plan the curriculum for their classes and then deliver that curriculum. Teachers evaluate and mentor their students. Evaluations usually take the form of grading homework, tests, and projects. Teachers keep records of these grades so students, parents, and school administrators know where the students stand. Mentor students, encouraging them to excel in their schooling. Teachers may also work closely with students interested in the sciences and help direct them to the right educational path. Science subjects also often involve hands-on demonstrations, which the teachers plan and perform. Science teachers collaborate with other teachers and parents to support the positive progress of their students. This usually involves participating in parent-teacher conferences and school staff meetings. Will enforce school and classroom rules and discipline students, when necessary. Ensure a safe school environment in which all students can freely learn without having to worry about disruptions.
