We are still accepting pictures for our presentation for the Teacher Opening Institute! We are putting together a presentation that includes pictures of students holding up signs indicating their level of excitement for finally being able to return to school. If you are interested in helping with this effort, please send pictures through email to hatchl@carbonschools.org by Thursday, August 13 *Sending a picture automatically gives permission for the district to use the picture for the presentation and website (no names will be associated with the pictures).

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Attendance Secretary at Sally Mauro Elementary School. Will work approximately 20 hours per week.  Will handle clerical duties such as correspondence and filing. Work with teachers and school counselors to identify students with attendance issues.  Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Carbon School District is seeking applications for Kitchen Worker/Deli Delivery worker. Prepares, produces, and serves a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes and assists in other related tasks in a designated food service production and/or service area  Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of main and side dishes and accompanying menu items, including sandwiches, salads, meats, vegetables, and fruits as specified by the menu, recipes and production records. Sets up and merchandises food and food service areas and serves food. Practices safe food handling according to State Health Department and CSD Food Services Standard Operating Procedures. Assists in transporting and serving food to satellite locations.  Will work approximately 25 hours per week.  Must have a valid Utah Food Handler's permit or be willing to obtain one.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must be able to pass a Live Scan Fingerprint background screening (cost of $25).   Apply online at www.carbonschools.org under Menu using the Employment Opportunities tab.

As soon as the plan is finalized, we will do our best to get it out to the public. Please be patient while we work through this difficult process to ensure safety for all.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Special Education Teacher at Sally Mauro Elementary School. Applicants must hold a current Utah Teaching license with at least a Mild/Moderate certification for Special Education. Applicants must have a good knowledge of the IEP process, student transition and strategies of teaching individually to students at various learning levels in the same classroom. Ladies and gentlemen yearbooks are finally here. Please feel free to come to the school before 3:30 today to pick yours up, if you’ve already purchased one. If you would still like to purchase one there are a few available.

*REMINDER* HMS Football Parent Meeting - June 30, 7pm at Helper Middle home bleachers in the gym. You may enter at north door of the gym (in the back). We will discuss practice schedules, game schedules (if available), Covid 19 plans, summer conditioning, and student fees. Any further questions please contact Helper Middle School.

As you drive through Sally Mauro's parking lot, we will hand out a pizza and a two liter of soda to each family with students at SME. We encourage you to wave and shout kind words to all teachers and staff. Then drive to HMS and get a ice cream courtesy of the foods department.

We are going out with a PARTY! Everyone at SME and HMS would like to invite all community members out to a parade to celebrate teachers and students. Date: May 20th Time: 6:30 pm Location: Helper Main Street After Party: Drive through of SME parking lot and in front of HMS.

Here is our newsletter for the week of April 20th. We hope everyone is well and safe.

As you all have heard this past week, Governor Herbert has extended the soft closure through the remainder of the school year. Our next round of packets will be going out this coming Monday, April 20th. Please come to the school and pick your child’s next two weeks of work up between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Also if your child has checked out a library book, please bring it and put into the library box. We are still working out the wrinkles of how we will get your child’s belongings back to them in a safe manner that is compliant with all Health Department regulations. Thank you so much for working with us through this COVID-19 stage. We want to give a big “THANKS” to our wonderful parents who have been helping their children and supporting us as a school. Everyone stay safe! WE CAN DO HARD THINGS, GO BULLS!

Sally Mauro students: You can do anything you set your mind to. During this time, you can become a scientist in your own yard. You ARE a teacher when you have a packet of work to do. You choose how hard you want to work. Your ideas and voice matter to many. Teacher’s love and miss you daily. We are and will make it through these hard days.
