Helper Middle School

Attention 8th grade parents, remember that tonight is the 8th grade send off for your students. We have asked that students wear nice clothes and arrive no later than 5:45 PM so that we can start promptly at 6 PM. This celebratory event will be held in the Helper Middle School gym. We will hand out awards, give a memento, and present the slideshow followed by light refreshments. Hope to see everybody there!

Parents/guardians, we want to remind you that the last day the activity bus will run is Thursday, May 16, 2024. There will be NO activity bus the last week of school. Additionally, school will be released at 11:20 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Music Teacher at Helper Middle School to teach choir/band. Attend and participate in school-wide events.  Use approved curricular materials and methods. Develop and implement lessons. Dear Parents and Guardians, Approximately an hour ago we had a report of a potential dangerous person at Carbon High School and the school was immediately put on lock down. Administration and local law enforcement responded and the situation was found to be an unsubstantiated threat. The lock down has been lifted and all after school activities have resumed as normal. We appreciate all involved including the community members who followed guidance from law enforcement and district personnel. Thank you, Mika Salas

Attention parents of 8th grade students: the Youth Mental Health Conference will take place on May 2nd. Please scan the QR code on the flyer or sign the permission slip that your student will bring home. Please be aware that students are expected to behave appropriately while attending the event. If they are unable to do so, they will be brought back to school to finish out their day.

The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program..Must have successful wrestling coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. Will schedule competitions and make arrangements. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. Performs other related duties as assigned. ***Please note: this position is split between both Helper Middle School and Mont Harmon Middle School*** Must have a high school diploma and be able to pass a Live Scan Fingerprint background screening. HMS will have a shortened schedule for 6th and 7th graders on Wednesday, March 13th. They will be released at 11:20 am. Lunch will still be served. Route buses will take the students home. 8th grade students will go to the high school for their transition activity. They will return to HMS at approximately 2:45pm. Route buses will take them and the student government officers home. Please contact the office with any questions.

The 2024-2025 school year spend plans for secondary schools are being reviewed and open for public comment in the March 13th Carbon School District Board Meeting during the General Meeting at 5:00pm at the District Office (251 West 400 North, Price)

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills. Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing. Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, regulations, and IEP. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Participate in district staff development program. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required. Any other assignment deemed appropriate by the building principal.
