Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Custodian at Helper Middle School. The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. Will work under the direction of the school principal. The Head Custodian has supervisory responsibility over the other custodians including seasonal custodial employees. Safety, cleanliness and continued efficiency of operation shall be a major goal at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach about the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous experience in janitorial work. Please plan to pull over in those spots to let your students out - no parking in these zones only loading and unloading. Watch for other students please.
If you are intending to walk your student in please park down the road to avoid any congestion and do not park by the red curb. We will have some RAMS letters by the main entrance for photos.

The secretary may attend meetings and record the proceedings. Collects fees and/or funds from student events (e.g. field trips, uniforms, ticket sales, yearbooks, dances, fundraisers, student fee money, etc.). Coordinates a variety of programs and/or activities. Maintains a variety of computerized and manual records, files, and department databases (e.g. information packets, rosters/listings, calendars, outstanding supply orders, etc.). Maintains inventory of supplies and materials (e.g. forms, office supplies, etc.). Performs record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, faxing, mailings, etc.).
