In 1980, Kerry Jensen was one of 48 new teachers hired at Carbon County School District. He says so many things have changed, even the name of the district.
His first assignment was a class of 35 6th graders at Sally Mauro under principal Bill Bate. Since then, he has had the wonderful opportunity of teaching 5th and 6th grades at Sally Mauro, Reeves, and Creekview Elementaries, and being an administrator at Mont Harmon Junior High, Wellington Elementary, and Carbon High.
In addition, he has also had the opportunity of wearing a multitude of other hats for the District, including computer repair technician, district transportation, student services, emergency management, buildings and maintenance, and other “Duties as Assigned”.
He has worked for 7 principals and 12 superintendents. He says the best part of working for the Carbon School District has been the students and the people he has been able to work with. He says it is a treasure to be able to touch the future of our world through its youth. He feels it is so precious to meet former students and co-workers who have become successful and productive members of society and claims this is such an amazing place to work. He wants to celebrate each of those with whom he has rubbed shoulders. Kerry states he leaves with many good friends and memories, as well as a good pension.
He is looking forward to spending time with his family, going on vacations that are not work related, and finding new and interesting things to learn and do.
Carbon School District wishes him well as he embarks on a new journey! Thank you for your service to the students of the district.
